The Advice and SKills project (ASK)

ASK is a partnership project between Derbyshire Housing Aid and Derby Law Centre.

The project is aimed at people who have been unemployed for 6 months or more.  We offer a 13 week training course, during which participants gain up to 3 OCN qualifications in Job Seeking Skills; Housing Law, Advocacy & Advice; and Dealing With Debt. Following the training there will be 13 weeks practical work experience where the theory learned in the classroom can be put into practice.

Participants need only attend for 2 days each week across the whole of the 26 week programme.  Completion of the course will give you the valuable skills, knowledge in related subjects, competent ability, and practical experience that will empower and enable you to find employment in the field of advice work.

Although aimed at those who are ‘unemployed’, people attending the course need not simply be on Benefits, the project is also suitable for parents looking to return to work after raising their children, people who have been out of work because of a period of illness, or others who for whatever reason have not been employed for a period of time.
